ANZAC Gallipoli Campaign - Social Studies

 Hi there,

Today I will be writing about what I have done in Social Studies. We started researching about ANZAC. We are still continuing on with our maps, locating and finding information. What is ANZAC? Anzac stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, its a grouping of several divisions created early in the Great War 1914.

When do you hear this song?

You hear this song on Anzac day at 6am. Musicians are advise to play The Last Post at the end of their driveways across orange. This can also be played at an soldiers memorial.

Why is this song significant/important to New Zealand?

The last post is to signal the end of soldiers. It is used at military funerals and memorial services. It is also a call that signifies the end of the day's activities.

What is the history behind the last post - Why was it played and when?

It was played to indicate soldiers that have passed away, during Military funerals and memorials. This song was played in public ceremonials commemorating the war dead, particularly on Remembrance Day in the Commonwealth nations.

What does this song represent?

The Last Post represents the soldiers who have died during wars.

  2. Hi Anneleise,
This is a very enjoyable blogpost to read. The lay out of your blogpost which puts a video first after the introduction is a good way of engaging the audience. This has informed me much of the meaning and importance of the song. But, a question lingers about the meanings of the points in the map. There isn't a way to tell what the map represents without previous knowledge of the event. Though this post is still very much of a good standard.

  3. Hello Anneleise, great blogpost with lots of detail although if you removed the questions from the post and just put the answers for the questions into the blog smoothly it would make it more enjoyable to read.
