Hi there,
Today in Social Studies, we were assigned to write a Lawyer Paragraph declaring the two long term negative impacts of Overfishing. Here is the paragraph I have written:
Overfishing has been an ongoing issue and has been around for many decades. It is occurring in our oceans creating many negative consequences. The first example, it can cause overpopulation of other species, when fish being taken out of the oceans builds an imbalance that can destroy the food web and lead to other important marine life, including vulnerable species like sea turtles and corals. The second example, it affects the ecosystem. This is happening because overfishing damages the food chains, other creatures that rely on seafood have to alter and change their environment and characteristics. Animals go into force to travel to distant regions to live. When that occurs, they would be hunted down or imposed out of the place for not being their natural habitat. Another example is that it can increase pollution. Pollution is one of the main issues continuing today; the common pollutants affected are the oceans, environment and marine pollution. Bottom trawling and plastics are the most destructive. Numbers of garbage in the oceans produce water pollution, which can lead to danger to people and our animals to become unsafe. One more example just to set out more awareness of overfishing, it can cause the collapse of the total fish stock. Commercial fishing has made a negative impact on oceans uninhabitable to any form of marine life. As a result, fish populations have decreased by 90 per cent. If this doesn’t resolve, there will be more fish and other seafood sources available. In conclusion, as a result of these reasons we need to urgently prevent this issue of overfishing.
Hi Anneleise,
ReplyDeleteI like how you wrote a whole long paragraph explaining what are the negative impacts that over-fishing is causing the Earth. I specifically liked how much different type of negative impacts over-fishing brings like how you mentioned pollutants, food chain destruction, over-populated species etc. It's really terrible isn't it? Next time what you could do to improve is to give evidence of a situations. Other than that, I think you did great! Have a nice day!
