Talking about Puberty - Drama

In Drama, 7/8Sh and 7/8Ds did a puberty talk with Mr Scott and two nurses. They had a slideshow ready for us to watch and it was about what happens to our body and what changes about our body. It was my third time talking about puberty, so it was easy for me to learn and listen about it. What I have learned in the puberty talk is that girls don't need to use tampons when they have there period .  Image result for emotions   Image result for emotions

Emotions Puppet show - Drama

On Tuesday in Drama we were working on making puppets for our puppet show. We had to get into groups of three and create a performance with our puppets about emotions. I was in a group with Keyana and Janel and our film was about friends helping each other when a bully comes up to you. I was the person who was getting bullied from Keyana and Janel was my friend helping me and standing up to the bully. I have the video for you to watch and I hope you enjoy.

Explain how you used your voice to show emotion in the puppet:
I made my voice sound like I was crying and that someone was hurting my feelings.

Emotion words:
Sad, Angry, Happy and Scared

Hurumanu Drama Questions about Mental health

What is Mental health?
Mental health is your emotions like, how you feel and what mood you are in. It is also about your brain and how your brain is working and thinking.

When I am:
  1. Angry: When my siblings are being annoying
  2.  Happy: When hanging with my friends and spending time with my family
  3. Stressed: When school work gets hard and having to be in girl drama

How do I deal with my emotions?
By talking to someone you trust, your parents or to a counselor.

Who is the best person to talk to when:

I am at home? Why?

  1. When i'm at home, the first person I would go and talk to would be my mum because when I tell her what is happening and how I feel, she will understand straight away and then she would go talk to the teacher or principal.

I am at school? Why?

      2. When i'm at school, the first person I would go and talk to would be my best friend Keyana, because she will understand how i'm feeling because they might have been in the same situation, and she would help me fix the problem.

Hurumanu Drama - Exercise

Today in Drama with 7/8Ds, we have been talking about how exercising affects our body, we've been playing and  some physicals activities and also watched two videos.

How does exercise affect our body and mind?
It affect our health and wellbeing by Running and Jogging everyday or even every second day. Yoga affects with your body by stretching your body. Squats and Lunges makes your legs feel stronger and healthier. Exercise affects the brain in multiple fronts. It keeps you fit and healthy and also makes your brain stay strong and ready. It increases heart rates, which pumps more oxygen to the brain.

I don't really do any fitness but I walk to school everyday and I'm starting netball for winter sports. My goal for fitness that I would like to achieve is to eat healthy and exercise in the weekends or in my free time. My progress through my goal is going okay and that I will keep trying until I achieve it.

Change and Challenges - Hurumanu drama

In week 10 my class 7/8Sh and 7/8Ds has started doing a new hurumanu subject, drama. Our teacher is Mrs Clark and we started off playing 5 drama games. One of the games we played was freeze frame.  We had get into groups and the teacher had given us one of the aspects of Hauora and we had to make up a play and perform it in front of the class. I was in a group with Sierra, Janel and Christian. The topic we have been given from the teacher was Spiritual Well - being. Our captions were saying the name of our church and doing the praying action.

The four aspects of Hauora:
Taha Tinana - physical well-being
Taha hinengaro - Mental and emotional well being
Taha whanau - Social well - being
Taha wairua - Spiritual well - being

Example of the 4 aspects of Hauora:

Taha Tinana is about your physical well being, like eating healthy, exercising and staying active/fit.

Taha hinengaro is about your mental and emotional well being, like your brain/thinking and your feelings.

Taha whauau is about your Social well being, like your friends and family and caring, belonging and relationships.

Taha wairua is about your Spiritual well being, like your beliefs, the search for meaning and purpose in life and personal identify and self-awareness.
