Gymnastics - PE

Today in PE we started doing Gymnastics, and I will be writing about what we did.

My focus was learning how to do basic stretches on the beam.

My 3 activities from the card were:

1. Balance on one leg standing

2. Balance on one leg keeled down

3. Half Split

I really enjoyed doing Gymnastics today, I liked the different options we had to choose from when doing it. I would do it again next time.

PE Questions

Today in PE we did some training on Basketball and divided ourselves up into groups of three. There were seven cards around the gym that we had to read, and it would tell us what to do for the training. There were all sorts of things we needed to do like, practice dribbling two balls at the same time and try and dribble a ball between your legs while walking.
Later on we did some research on these six questions that the teacher has set for us to answer.
Overall it was a okay session in PE.

Here are the questions:

Who invented basketball? James Naismith

What did James Naismith do for a job? Teacher, Professor and Coach.

Where did the word Marathon originate? Athens. Reference to a running race derives from two greek legends.

When did the word Marathon originate? The word Marathon is from Ancient Greece. Marathon is a town in Greece, where in 490BC a battle raged between the Athenians and the Persians.

Who designed the Modern Olympics? Baron Pierre De Coubertin

How many Olympic games have been canceled? Three times, the first time because of World War 1 and twice during World War ll.

PE Blog Post

Today in PE we played some tables tennis and tried to attempt to juggle. When I was playing table tennis it was very difficult for me to not miss hitting the ball and not hit the ball off the table. It was very hard but after a few tries, I managed to hit the ball 3 times with it staying on the table.

Later on after a few rounds of table tennis, I attempted to juggle scarfs and bean bag balls. I first tried practicing using the scarfs then with the balls, and I found it more difficult than playing table tennis. It was very hard for me to keep throwing it in the air and catching it while trying to repeat the same rhythm without stopping, but I couldn't keep up with the timing.

The process through both activities was hard but I did enjoy trying to attempt them. Overall it was a fun PE lesson and I would want to do it again in one of our other PE lessons.

Lockdown Reflection

How my lockdown went:

During the 7 weeks of lockdown, I have had my ups and downs but it has been good for me. I started my own workout using this app and it made me feel very motivated and woken up every morning. On my workout app it has different choices of which part of your body you want to work on, like your arms legs and belly. There are multiple exercises to do such as, jumping jacks, crunches (which is kinda like a sit up but half way), mountain climbers, knee ups and many more.

Another thing I've done during the lockdown was some baking with my mum and sister. We baked two types of cookies which were m&m and chocolate chip. They were pretty simple to make and the outcome was a success, and I would definitely make it again and recommend to try it yourself.

Overall I really enjoyed working from home because I was more focused and got work done faster but it is good to be back at school.

Athletics Reflection - P.E Training

Today I will be writing about what we have been doing in P.E, Athletics training.  We did some training on High jump, Long Jump, Shot put, Discus and sprints for us to train for Athletics day on Thursday. We also did some training for 100m, 200m, 400m, 15,000m sprints and recorded our results on a document.

One of the events that I think I have improved on was my sprints because my first result I got was 10.38m which was pretty good for my first run but thought I could do better, then later on during more training I improved and got 9.25m.

What I learned:
I learned some new techniques on how to throw a discus and a shot put because last year I was struggling on how to throw both of them, but now i'm happy that I know now.

These are the results I got for each of the events I did:

Before
After
Shot put
5.10
9.40
Discus
12.20
12.50
9.80
Long Jump

3.00
High Jump

Sprints

I really enjoyed practicing for athletics and surprised with the results that I got, especially for sprints and shotput.

PE Athletics

Today in PE we are learning how to throw a discus and do high jump.

First we practice doing discus, we went out onto the field and got into partners, we had to practice rolling the discus gently straight in a line to our partner who was facing opposite us. Later after that, we learned how to hold a discus and how to throw one too. I found out when your holding a discus, you have lay your finger at 12 clock before you throw it.

After discus, we went back into the gym and did high jump. In high jump we learned how to jump backwards onto our back but laying with our arms and legs in the air, on a thick mat. Then after a few practices of doing that, we did a little starting walk practicing doing it with one leg up then landing on our back again. We were learning how to just jump with one leg up instead of jumping with both.
I enjoyed practicing today in PE because I got to learn new skills on how to get better in the athletics sports.
